This blog will chronicle my adventures and misadventures as a baby until I grow up as a pretty, fine young lady - just like Mommy.

PCV
PCV or Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine is a vaccine which fights infections caused by Streptococcus penumoniae bacteria and affects children below 5 years of age. If not prevented, it can cause meningitis that may claim the life of your child or cause physical or mental abnormality. Learn more about it here.
During my daughter's last visit to her pedia (for her measles vaccine), her doctor explained that this is going to be optional for us. We can choose to have her vaccinated next month or delay it at a later time. If we do, she'll have 2 more vaccines until she reaches the age of 2. If we choose not to have her vaccinated, she can still have it when she's 18 months, then one more when she's 2 years old. Finally, if we decide to have her vaccinated when she's 2 years old, that would be her first and last. To summarize, a baby can have a maximum of 4 series of vaccines depending on her age. The younger she is, the more she'll have. Like if she's under 6 months, she'll have it 4 times; 7 months onwards, 3 times; twice when she gets it at 1 year old; and if she gets it at 2 years old, only once. Doc said we can delay the vaccine as long as our daughter is well taken cared of. She's confident anyway that we're handling her well because my daughter is healthy and she doesn't see any sign of disease or infection. This is completely different from Rota Virus because, although likewise optional, she strongly recommended that my daughter be given the shots. She said we can come back next month if we decide to give our daughter PCV. Otherwise, we'll see each other next year - after M's first birthday for chicken pox vaccine.
As a mother, I only want what's best for my daughter. In fact my husband and I are seriously considering having her vaccinated with PCV. However, our respective parents have advised us to just forego with it. Typical philosophy of oldies. Just an FYI, ito yung pinaguusapan sa mga mommy circle na pinakamahal na bakuna for babies. Money is not an issue though, but what's good for my daughter's health and well-being.
Now, I'm undecided. Esep, esep....

MAKAILA THE CELEBRITY
I ALWAYS feel proud everytime people (including strangers) would tell us that our daughter is cute and bungisngis. Why not? She’s charming, sociable and not difficult to deal with. She's not iyakin - crying only for valid reasons: when she wants milk, bored or hurt. She’s happiest when she’s around people that unless you give her milk, she won't realize she's hungry. When we’re at the mall, she finds contentment by just looking around or at people’s faces and then smiling at them. Sabi ni Doc, happy and contented baby sya.
During our recent trip abroad, I didn't expect she would exhibit such bubbliness that every person she sees whether for the first time or otherwise, she would flash her cute, gummy smile. One time at the MRT, 2 Chinese teenagers were talking and everytime they would laugh, MM would also laugh and babble, as if she’s part of their conversation. Tuwang tuwa yung dalawa sa kanya. Then another time, there's this old Chinese lady who sat beside us. When she glanced at M, my daughter instantly flashed a friendly smile at her. The old lady said, "Oh it's my lucky day. She smiled at me. Not all babies smile that instantly." Me, being the proud Mum answered back, "Oh yes, she’s very friendly."
If you’re going to ask me who did she inherit that trait from, definitely not me. I know I’m charming (oh, ‘wag ng kumontra) but I was never sociable. Probably from Dad.
At the Dolphin Lagoon in Sentosa, four Indian ladies approached me after the dolphin show and asked if they can take a picture of my daughter. Of course, I said yes. Hindi nakatiis yung isa, kinarga pa sya at napapicture with her. Before parting ways, they told me, “She's so cute!” I smiled. That's when my husband's cousins labeled her as a Bollywood actress.
The day before we left, one of our neighbors in Aloha, told Momsy Zeny the same thing, “She’s so cute!”
Sayang, forgot to take pictures of M with her fans. =)

THE PINK BONNET
I tried this bonnet on M last night. This was given by her Nanay as a pasalubong from Italy last summer paired with mittens and booties. She wore it only recently since it's supposed to be a winter bonnet. As you know, we are a tropical country. But since it's the rainy season once again, appropriate na sya. Cute!

MINI ME
MAKAILA celebrated her 6th monthsary on August 17th........
She loves it when mommy puts her to sleep.
She loves to play with water in her bath tub.
She's more aware (and curious) of her surroundings...
She still loves to watch TV.
She can now hold her bottle....
When someone is talking, she listens intently. Kahit hindi sya ang kausap.
She as lovable as always.
She can now crawl....
She loves it when mommy puts her to sleep.
She loves to play with water in her bath tub.
She still loves to suck her thumb (sometimes her hands and feet) and....
..... almost anything that she could reach.

(Acrobatic is a better term)

M's PASSPORT PHOTO
YESTERDAY, we went to SM Sta. Rosa to have my and M's picture taken for our passport. She's applying for a new passport, while I, will be updating mine to reflect my married surname.
Anyway, she looked cute on her pic that I thought I should post it here.

FOR MY "EMEMITA"
Are those your eyes, is that your smile
I've been lookin' at you forever
But I never saw you before
Are these your hands holdin' mine
Now I wonder how I could of been so blind
For the first time I am looking in your eyes
For the first time I'm seein' who you are
I can't believe how much I see
When you're lookin' back at me
Now I understand why love is...
Love is... for the first time...
Can this be real, can this be true
Am I the person I was this morning
And are you the same you
It's all so strange how can it be
All along this love was right in front of me
For the first time I am looking in your eyes
For the first time I'm seein' who you are
I can't believe how much I see
When you're lookin' back at me
Now I understand why love is...
Love is... for the first time...
Such a long time ago
I had given up on findin' this emotion...
Ever again
But you live with me now
Yes I've found you some how
And I've never been so sure
And for the first time I am looking in your eyes
For the first time I'm seein' who you are
Can't believe how much I see
When you're lookin' back at me
Now I understand why love is...
Love is... for the first time...
